Floating Homes Quilt
This quilt is based on a photo taken by Nick Stooke on their recent jaunt to South America. From his notes: “It was taken in the late morning of 25 January. We were on a small tributary of the Amazon River and were about to pull onto the Amazon that is in the background behind the floating houses. The water is flowing from right to left. While the picture captured a very narrow peninsula of land, the rivers were at about midpoint of their flow, so they would eventually rise about 15 more feet.”

Lovely – is that all pieced?? So many values, especially the water shadows. I really think your photo of the lotus /water lily would be beautiful in this technique also! I was thinking of doing it as batik-style painting on muslin, then quilting the edges?
