Dolls with Yarn Hair
This Saturday at the South of the James Market its a Cucumber Festival! The vendors have been encouraged to support the theme, so I’ve made a cucumber pennant string for my tables and a cucumber apron to hold my scissors and change! Should be fun!
Also have a few new items for inventory – sold the first yarn-hair doll last time out right after I put it on the table! In an effort to reduce my button stash, I’m trying out these jars of buttons, which include some beads and a gold cord for string them. Now for good weather on Saturday!

Smoked Morning
Monday, Columbus Day, it was brisk in Richmond. As I was puttering away at the computer on the kitchen table, husband with a touch of concern said, “is something burning?” As we stepped out onto the deck, we could smell woodsmoke, and saw it billowing across the back yard. Touch of alarm. Then we noticed it was coming from out neighbor’s chimney. So that’s ok. Then husband exclaimed, “Look!” The smoke highlighted the early morning sun streaming thru the trees – run for the camera! It was lovely. Hopefully you can get a feel from the photos above.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday temps were 80s+, and Friday it rained, ALL DAY. Then yesterday at South of the James Market I about froze! I think it may finally be Fall in Virginia.
See danspringscollection.wordpress.com for an update on the Collection.

Truck of Pumpkins
Thursday in Richmond it rained, all day long. And Thursday night it poured. By morning it had stopped, so Julia and I met as planned at the Grandp’s condo at CoWo. It was good to see Lily with her Great Grandma and Great Grandpa – difficult to tell who was having a better time!
Friday evening it rained again off and on – I didn’t load up the car for the market until this morning when it looked like things might clear off. The vendor count was down a bit at South of the James, and traffic wasn’t as brisk as its been at times this summer, but sales were still decent. Folks were walking by with their market bags full of produce! It was cloudy the first few hours, then the sun broke thru and gleamed off the wet pavement – the light was beautiful
