Touring Downtown

Family in town!  Some of the Creighton crew, Sandra and Phil Farrow, related thru my mother, are visiting daughter Alison, James, and their children who have relocated to Richmond.  We had a wonderful day of sightseeing in downtown yesterday.  Took in the 17th street market, lunched at the Gutenberg Cafe, visited the Capitol building, and meandered across the Lee Pedestrian Bridge to Belle Isle.  With all the rain we’ve had lately the James River is at 9 feet, permit required.  From the trail on the north side of the Isle we had an up close look at class V rapids!!  Even caught sight of a couple of kyaker’s playing in the hydraulics!  Amazing to see so much water in the river after the recent dry spell.  There was a waterfall over the old headgates on the south of the island – no way to walk across the rocks this week!
