Marvelous Numbers: 89

This past Thursday was my father’s 89th birthday!  And he and Momma are still going strong.  He said it was the best birthday ever.  Which may have had something to do with his great grandkids being there, but I think more that he’s made it this far.  Of greater celebration to me was that he said, “We don’t need to celebrate this one, we’ll do a party on my 90th.”  I love a positive attitude!

FYI, the following has been added under “About ‘but is it Art?'”, from 1982…

Thru colors and shadings cast with a lilt

With imaging over imaging built

The spirit invokes in spirits’ mate

Matching emotions, the twinning state,

Communication from heart to heart,

The treasured result of all great art.

The solace every soul will seek,

Thru endless days and endless weeks,

The balm that’s sought in God or man,

On strange and sometimes hostile strands,

A seeming loss we must atone,

When all along we’re not alone,

But only must relearn the art

Of speaking eternally heart to heart.

  1. Looks like Daddy was having a big time – and I like the 90th party plan, too!!
Who is the poem by – is that one of yours?

  2. Yep, that’s one of my poems, titled ‘but is it ART?’, from 1982.
