Mercury Fountain, Reston Town Center

While I was in Reston recently for the Virginia State P.E.O. conference, I had the opportunity to enjoy the Mercury Fountain at the center of the adjacent Reston Town Center.  Brazilian-born sculptor, Saint Clair Cemin, designed the fountain. Reaching a height of 20 feet, the fountain is crowned with a bronze figure of Mercury, the Greek Messenger God. There are bronze “trumpets” along the column of the fountain from which the water flows. During the hour or so that I strolled around the center, three wedding parties used the fountain as the backdrop for their photos!  Or at least two of them were wedding parties.  The third group was Latino, and very young.  So I think it may have been a Quinceanera celebration.

I love the fountain – so many photo possibilities.  If you’re in the area, check it out!
