Last evening we joined our older daughter and her family at the Osbourne Boat Landing along the James for the James River Parade of Lights! This was the 17th year of the parade, but our first time to see it. Temps were in the upper 30’s and the grandkids were enthralled by the pre-boat entertainment – Jonathan Martin, juggler extraoridinaire; and fire dancers.
The Lily Pad, an undiscovered seafood establishment, was serving free chili cooked in a steaming caldron on the dock. Finally the boats began to come down the James, brightly decorated, each pirouetting for the crowd.
We were watching from one of the docks extending into the harbor, and to our delight, Santa’s boat pulled in and docked right next to us! He shook hands with Eli and Lily, then moved on into the crowd!
Happy Christmas to all of you!
