This past weekend I had the good fortune to attend the Acadiana Airfest with my husband in New Iberia, Louisiana! Our son-in-law was scheduled to do a demonstration flight in his F-18 Hornet, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Ceiling was only 12oo feet, and he needed 15oo. Sigh. At least we got to see him and our daughter, and enjoy a quick vacation in Cajun Land!
Of the acts that we were able to see, the AeroShell Team in their North American AT-6 Texans were my favorites – amazing formation flying, loops, and smoke trails all over the low clouds! The jet powered bus was intriguing – don’t know that I’ve ever seen a vehicle do 300 miles per hour, as it did down the runway. And Otto the helicopter, flown by Roger Burris, was entertaining.
Everyone putting on the Airfest, and all of those in attendance were friendly and fun to be around. Unfortunately, the second day of the event was called on account of weather – at least this year was better than last, when the entire show was cancelled.
