May is quickly streaming past – here’s an update on an adventure earlier this week. Three of my P.E.O. sisters joined me for a stroll around Hollywood Cemetery. I’d always heard May was a beautiful time to visit this historic rural cemetery, and the weather cooperated to prove that true. Roses were in bloom in several plots, and we caught the scent of honeysuckle.
We followed the blue line on the pavement, so as not to get lost forever midst the sprawling grounds. We recognized many names still well known in Richmond, and saw monuments to James Monroe, John Tyler, and Jefferson Davis. We ate our lunch overlooking the Hollywood Rapids of the James River, then wandered back to our car, parked at the entrance. A comfortable 2.5 mile hike, with lots of lovely sunshine and fresh air!
