Around Richmond

Spring in Richmond! With the warm weather we’ve been having, everything is bursting into bloom! Found these lovely plantings on Brown’s Island downtown, along Robius Road in Chesterfield, and in the median of Laburnum Avenue in north Richmond. I’ve been hoping to see the cherry blossoms around the tidal basin in DC April 2nd and 3rd with my sister when she gets here from the left coast, but prospects are not looking good. The 100th Cherry Blossom Festival may go on with mostly falling cherry blossom petals. Sigh. Guess I’ll just have to use the lovely Japanese umbrellas we found at Bellwood Flea Market last Sunday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Japanese Garden in Maymont! Now where are those grandchildren when I need them…

  1. I’m also sad about the DC cherry blossoms – will something else be coming out that week? Your photos reminded me of our drive across country during April 10 years ago!!
