Petoskey Stones


Mystery solved! My well-traveled father has identified the rocks I mentioned in an earlier post! They’re Petoskey Stones, found along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. They’re fragments of a coral reef that lived about 350 million years ago, during the Devonian period. Amazing!! For more detail, check out Wikipedia’s entry, or this Michigan children’s summary.
