Ahhh, the cake that was! My birthday was last week and Friday my wonderful resident chef and I baked a cake, then he iced it using the latest in internet methodology. Who knew you were suppose to do a ‘crumb layer’ of icing first, chill the cake, then ice again?! Excellent results! The lazy susan didn’t hurt, either. All but a memory now – we devoured the last slices last night. Grandmama’s cake keeper has been washed and is back on the top of the icebox.
